Goals and Intended Learning Output (ILO)

•GOALS: They will learn how to use research-based instruments (e.g., two-tier questionnaires, ordered multiple choice items) to point out and highlight most common misconceptions in chemistry students.

•ILO1: Participants will be able to use research-based instruments (e.g. two-tier questionnaires, ordered multiple choice items).
•ILO2: Participants will demonstrate to be able to design and apply such instruments to highlight misconceptions in chemistry students.

ILO3: Participants will demonstrate to be able to evaluate the students’ progress in overcoming their misconceptions.

In the Bridging Pre-knowledge Gaps course you explore whether pre-knowledge gaps occur in your course and what they are. Also, this course will provide you with possible solutions to deal with these gaps.

In this course, we will introduce peer assessments as a useful alternative (or supplement) to traditional assessments and how they can enhance student learning and provide more opportunities for students to improve not only their content knowledge, but also their communication, collaboration, and writing skills. Participants will learn: how to implement peer assessments in the classroom and how to create a rubric for peer assessments.
